Tom Green County officials have lifted the outdoor burn ban, effective April 8, 2026.

Even with the ban lifted, conditions remain dry. The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office asks that residents notify the office before conducting any outdoor burning. Fire crews also urge residents to have water on hand and monitor weather conditions closely.

Mereta VFD reminds all residents in our area:

Check current weather and wind conditions before burning.

Keep a charged water source nearby at all times.

Never leave a burn unattended.

If a fire escapes control, call 9-1-1 immediately.

For current burn ban status, see our Burn Ban page.
