Burn Ban In Effect — Tom Green County
Tom Green County has issued an outdoor burn ban, effective July 7, 2026, according to the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas A&M Forest Service statewide burn ban list.
All outdoor burning is prohibited under penalty of law while the ban is in effect. Mereta VFD urges all residents in our area to comply fully — dry conditions mean any outdoor fire can spread quickly.
While the ban is in effect:
- Do not burn brush, debris, or any combustible material outdoors.
- Report unauthorized burning or unattended fires to Tom Green County Dispatch at 325-655-8111.
- If a fire escapes control, call 9-1-1 immediately.
The Tom Green County Commissioners Court is scheduled to revisit the burn ban at its meeting on July 14, 2026. For the latest status, see our Burn Ban page.
